VISIT THESE PLACES BEFORE THEY'RE GONE

Aren't you sure about where to travel next? Due to our changing climate, technology, and ongoing crisis, there are some places that you should indeed visit as soon as possible. So, here you go - five places you so definitely visit right now.

1. The Maldives

These stunning and exotic islands are in danger of being destroyed by the rising sea level. The highest point on the highest island of the Maldives is about three meters high - in comparison, the highest point of the USA is 6190.5 meters, in the Philippines, it's 2,954 meters, and in the Netherlands, a country that's known for being located really low, it's 322,4 meters. So, the fact that the highest point of the Maldives is so low makes them very vulnerable in front of the rising of sea levels which is caused by climate change.

When you travel to the Maldives, please remember to compensate your carbon dioxide emissions by, for example, donating money via the internet. You don't want to be one of the causes why we are losing these unique islands, do you?

2. The Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is an amazingly colorful coral reef located in northern Australia. It's home for thousands or tens of thousands of species, for example about 1500 varies of different species of fish. However, during the last 27 years, about half of the reef has disappeared due to climate change.

Because of this, you should definitely go there and try diving in one of the most beautiful environments one can find from our planet. A good way to get to explore the Great Barrier Reef without destroying it yourself is volunteering there. If volunteering sound like something you might want to do, you can read more about it here.

3. The Amazon

The Amazon rainforest is the largest rainforest on Earth covering about 1.4 billion acres. It's home for about 20% of the birds found on our planet and spreads through seven different countries. Lately, researches have shown that the whole rainforest might disappear during the next 50 years unless we change our habits. The disappearance of the Amazon would be catastrophic for us since the rainforest is considered to be 'the green lungs of Earth'.

You can visit the Amazon by doing a guided tour and camping around the rainforest. It's possible to volunteer here too, you can read more about it here. When you are in the Amazon, please be careful with your actions so you don't destroy anything.

4. Venice, Italy

Venice has traditionally been considered as a city of love and romance, being the venue for various different movies and books. However, it's nowadays facing the same issue as the Maldives are - the rising sea level. Venice is well-known for its canals but now as the sea level rises the water might start covering the city. In the long run, this might lead to the destruction of this historical city.

Venice is a great place to visit in Europe since you can experience the delicious Italian cuisine, go on a gondola ride, grab a tasty gelato or read up on the history of Italy and Venice, which was founded in 421 AD.

5. The Dead Sea, Jordan / Israel / Palestine

The Dead Sea is dying. Sounds ironic but it's the sad truth - the water level drops about one meter per year. The Dead Sea is and has been quite a popular tourist destination. People go there to try floating in the saltiest lake of the world, to experience the mud with health benefits or just to see what all the fuss is about.

The deepest spot of the Dead Sea is about 400 meters low which means that the lake won't be going anywhere anytime soon. However, there has been an increasing amount of sinkholes which has resulted in the closure of some shore segments. Therefore, you should definitely go and see it while it's still possible.
